Bot Name
MiniSurreptitious
Author
Rednaxela
What's special about it?
Not too much. It's the first bot of my 'Surreptitious' series, a series of melee bots that will never use anything but
HeadOnTargeting.
Great, I want to try it. Where can I download it?
Sure. See
RoboRumble/MeleeParticipants
How competitive is it?
Not too bad it appears.
How does it move?
My own take on
MinimumRiskMovement.
How does it fire?
Just
HeadOnTargeting with the bullet power selection from
MRMovementChallenge.
It doesn't consciously, it just never stays still. :-)
How does the melee strategy differ from one-on-one strategy?
Ehh? It doesn't differ.
How does it select a target to attack/avoid in melee?
Just the usual 'closest target' thing.
What does it save between rounds and matches?
Nothing.
Where did you get the name?
Surreptitious:
1. stealthy, furtive, well hidden, covert (especially movements)
Can I use your code?
Sure, under the
RWPCL, but please don't make something that's just a clone...
What's next for your robot?
Well, I do have a new release that's much better and isn't public yet, but releasing that will wait till the melee rumble is working again. After that? Code cleanup, and then maybe MegaSurreptitious
? or MicroSurreptitious
?.
Huh? I don't think
WhiteWhale applies to melee really.
What other robot(s) is it based on?
Uses some utility classes of mine that I'm addicted to and the two lines of aim/bulletpower code from
MRMovementChallenge. Some conceptual inspiration from
MeleeStrategy/UnderstandingHawkOnFire.
Comments, questions, feedback:
Hmm, I think this may be my best named bot. I think the word "surreptitious" really does capture what I think is the most important part of melee: Not being fired at. :-) -- Rednaxela
