Description

Grofvuil only exist to have a participant in every category. It will probably remain the only nano I will make, because I don't like to make such limited bots. I am just not good at it. I expect it to perform quite well in melee, due to its good radar.

Great, I want to try it. Where can I download it?

gh.nano.Grofvuil: https://www.robocoderepository.com/BotDetail.jsp?id=2553

How competitive is it?

I have no idea, in nanomelee it will be in the top-40 ;-)
Suddenly (v 0.2) it is a good overall nanobot in the subtop.

How does it move?

Perpendicular distance-dependent oscillator.

How does it fire?

Sortof linear targetting.

How does it dodge bullets?

By oscillating blindly.

How does the melee strategy differ from one-on-one strategy?

No difference.

How does it select a target to attack/avoid in melee?

Closest with a small preference for current target.

What does it save between rounds and matches?

Nothing

Where did you get the name?

When it is no good, I put it at the Grofvuil (trash), and ofcourse it begins with 'GR'.

Can I use your code?

It's in the jar, under the RWPCL.

What's next for your robot?

I hope to find a way to close in on an opponent, so I don't get stuck against the wall.
Found it, so now I can't think of anything else at the moment

Does it have any WhiteWhales?

Nope

What other robot(s) is it based on?

Basically micro.Gruweltje, but only the radarcode is still there.

Comments, questions, feedback:

I'll bet it will even be in the top 30 of nano melee bots (seeing as how it's only the 28th one in the RR@H). Really, though, it looks like you have a solid entrance into the top 10 :-) -- Kawigi

It is a very unbalanced bot and extremely vulnerable to PM, but against nano's that does not seem to matter much. It performs better than expected, even in one-on-one. Now I am competitive (more or less) in every rumble present here :-) -- GrubbmGait

Hmmm, I wonder if I was previously the only person with a competitive entry in every division. I think David Alves should be credited with being the first person with a melee and 1-on-1 bot in every division, but his team (Phalanx) isn't entered into the rumble yet. -- Kawigi

Strickly speaking Radnor could be counted too, with DoctorBob (and RadnorMedschool?) he has one bot (!) which competes in every devision. On the other hand I am missing a nano one-on-one specialist and a mega melee specialist. Looking through your list of bots, you are probably the one with the most bots. -- GrubbmGait

Strictly speaking, Radnor doesn't have a specialized bot or a micro that's not a nano. On the other hand, Radnor isn't a single person, either. Also, I don't think there's a requirement to make a seperate 1-on-1 and melee specialist in the megabot realm, since you're not restricted by space to make one that's effective at both.

I don't know if I have the most bots (I probably don't), but I'm up there! I wasn't robocoding for awhile, so PEZ could catch up with me, but he's written all of maybe 6 nanos since he started (and 4 of them are haiku / femto -oriented bots), so many of his are much more involved (he at least gets the prize for the most versions of one bot, I think he might have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place there). -- Kawigi
